Up to 75% of children will experience a significant
headache before the age of 15 years. Many of these will go on to have recurrent headaches. Fortunately, in most cases the
cause of headaches are identifiable and benign. There are, however, many misconceptions about headaches and migraines in children.
For example, did you know that migraines are the most common cause of significant or recurrent headaches in children, even
if they are not severe or have symptoms such as nausea and vomiting? They commonly start as early as 4 years of age and are
often mistakenly attributed to allergies, sinus or vision problems. In many cases, they can be significantly improved by simply
learning to identify and eliminate possible triggers such as stress, sleep problems or diet.
We offer a comprehensive
approach to child and adolescent headache diagnosis and management including eduation, dietary modification and sleep management
in addition to the most up to date medications available.
